We are in the city for the city
Church is a place of worship, giving thanks and praise to God, receiving life from God’s word, celebrating one another and dedicating ourselves in full surrender to Jesus. It’s a place of hope and healing. However, Jesus told us to do more than simply gather; He instructed us to “love your neighbor as yourself” and to “feed the hungry and clothe the naked”.
Our annual outreach event, Love Where We Live (LWWL), has taken on new life and purpose! LWWL is now a once per month outreach to our City where we meet the many and growing needs of our community, and Gateway Family.
Ways We Support Our Community
January - October
Family Pantry is a once a month ministry that supports the families of the community by suppling essential food items for the month. As of now we serve over 24 families per month
March -October
Since August 2015, the garden has been providing fresh produce for the community and local food pantries. The garden has grown so much over the years that it is like Gateway’s own little farm.
July
This year we worked along side of the governor’s office to play games and handout backpacks filled with school supplies at the Savin Rock Festival. We gave out over 600 backpacks to more than 250 families.
October
We collect gently used winter coats, hats, gloves, scarfs, and socks for adults and children. We work with the town of West Haven to distribute them to the homeless in the community along with other families in need.
November
Every November, we provide a Thanksgiving Basket filled with everything a family needs for a wonderful Thanksgiving meal. Last year, we served over 30 families
December
Every December, we provide a gift for each child in need at either the family pantry, community, or Gateway Family. The family also receives a gift card to a local grocery store so they are able to purchase food items for an amazing Christmas meal.
